MADE IN UKRAINE
UPHA is the first project of the publishing house that launches Made in Ukraine series. The book comprises endeavors of 58 photographers, members of the independent group Ukrainian Photographic Alternative (UPHA). These projects suggest personal insights into the time(s) their authors live in, their milieu, and the reaction onto events taking place in Ukraine and abroad. The UPHA book project centers around issues such as the formation of independent Ukraine; relationships, personal and those between people and power; the irony penetrating the mundanity; attitudes toward religion and issues of social inequality.
The artists investigate the Soviet syndrome phenomenon, reflect on the changes within the history of Ukraine: before, during and after the Maidan Revolution, the annexation of the Crimea and the war in the East of Ukraine.
